About Jay Spectre:
Jay Spectre’s work reached its zenith in the 1970s and 1980s. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, he established Jay Spectre Inc., a renowned interior design firm based in New York. Spectre’s designs were influenced by Art Deco, Asian, and African aesthetics, all presented with a luxurious flair. He crafted elegant interiors for high-profile clients, including politicians and celebrities, and his design expertise spanned beyond residential projects to encompass yachts, furniture, airplanes, and commercial spaces. His outstanding talent has been recognized in prestigious publications such as House Beautiful and Architectural Digest. In 1986, Spectre was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame and was honored with the 1987 Bride’s Magazine Award for excellence. Additionally, The Smithsonian Institution acknowledged him as one of the nation’s top eight designers in its “Giants of Interior Design” program.
