A striking early design by Enzo Mari for Danese Milano, the Putrelle vide-poche transforms an industrial steel I-beam profile into a compact sculptural object. Designed in 1958, the form reflects Mari’s interest in reducing everyday objects to direct, elemental structures while allowing the character of the material and fabrication process to remain visible.

Constructed from transparent-coated iron, the piece retains the raw, architectural quality of the metal while functioning as a tray or catchall. The recessed central compartment is framed by broad horizontal flanges, giving the small object a distinctly monumental presence.

Metal manufacturer’s label to underside: “Danese Milano Made in Italy Dis. Enzo Mari.”

Condition: Very good to excellent condition. Minor areas of oxidation and variation to the iron surface, consistent with the material and fabrication of the piece. Overall presents exceptionally well.
