Harvey Probber Three Piece Sectional Sofa 1955c.
Harvey Probber Three-Piece Sectional Sofa, circa 1955
Upholstery and solid walnut.
Large-scale three-piece sectional sofa by Harvey Probber, circa 1955. The sectional features a sweeping curved form composed of three individual sections, with squared upholstered arms and an architectural, angled back.
Loose wedge-shaped seat cushions follow the curvature of the frame, complemented by individual loose back cushions. The sofa rests on short, round solid walnut legs, providing a subtle contrast to the fully upholstered frame.
The generous scale and low profile are characteristic of Probber’s sophisticated approach to modular seating during the 1950s, combining a strong architectural form with comfortable, informal seating.
