Soleri was an Italian-American architect, urban theorist, and visionary best known for his experimental work in sustainable architecture and his handcrafted bronze and ceramic wind bells. A former apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, Soleri founded the Cosanti Foundation and later established Arcosanti, an ongoing urban laboratory in the Arizona desert exploring his concept of “arcology” (architecture + ecology). His sculptural windbells, cast at Cosanti, reflect his belief in organic form, material integrity, and the fusion of art with the environment.
