Sculptural high-back occasional chair designed by Sido and François Thévenin and produced by Sawaya & Moroni, Italy, circa 1990.

The chair features a dramatically elongated leather sling seat and back, secured with brass-toned rivets to a slender blackened metal frame. The expressive wrought-iron construction, arched supports and decorative crest give the chair a distinctly architectural presence, reflecting the Thévenins’ approach to furniture as functional sculpture.

François Thévenin worked across architecture, sculpture and furniture design, often combining hand-worked metal with leather and other traditional materials in highly individual, limited-production pieces.

Signed to the reverse of the backrest with the artists’ “SF” cipher.
